This is the tiger's eye that made people fall for tiger's eye in the first place. Shaped into a tall flame with a swept point, it is all silky golden brown bands that flash and roll as you turn it, the chatoyant shimmer moving across the stone like light on a cat's eye. Through the middle runs a bold dark band, glossy black and rust, where a darker iron rich layer cuts across the gold, so the piece reads as two textures in one, satin and ink.
It stands on a flat base without a wobble and it is a good size for a desk, a bedside table or a shelf where the light can move across it, because that is when tiger's eye does its trick. Turn it under a lamp and the bands ripple.
