She is the one who lights up a room without trying. A fan of gray chalcedony, its face crusted in a fine gray druzy and dotted with small clear crystals, and up in the corner a bloom of peach stilbite, soft wedge shaped crystals stacked like petals, with glassy apophyllite points tucked in among them. Turn her toward a window and the peach warms up, the clear crystals catch the light, and the crust shows a soft glint here and there. The back is the cut face of the chalcedony, so she sits flat and steady on her own.
She wants a windowsill or a sunny entry table, somewhere the light moves across her through the day, because the peach and the clear crystals are at their best in daylight. At about 6.5 inches across and over three pounds she is a real presence, big enough to anchor a shelf or a mantel on her own with nothing else needed around her. A piece people pick up, turn over, and ask about.
Stilbite is the gentle one in crystal tradition, the stone of calm and creative flow, kept where you want tension to ease and ideas to come easier. Apophyllite is read as a stone of clarity and light, one that people set near a window or a meditation spot to brighten the feel of a room and lift a heavy mood. Together on one piece they are a soft, steadying pairing, and the chalcedony under them is the stone of nurture and kindness, the quiet base that holds it all together. She is the one you set where you start your morning.
She is from Jalgaon, India, from the Deccan basalt where these zeolite specimens form, apophyllite and stilbite on a chalcedony base.
