Some spheres are all about the polish. This one is about the surprise. The body is a warm terracotta orange jasper, opaque and smooth, with white chalcedony veins running through it in ribbons. Then the front opens into a pocket of clear quartz crystals, chunky and glassy, with a sugary white rim that catches the light like frost. Turn it around and the veins wrap the back in stripes, and one side carries a round frosted white patch ringed in a thin white line, like a little full moon.
It is a comfortable size, just under three inches, and it sits in the palm of your hand with some weight to it. Under a lamp or near a window the quartz sparkles while the jasper stays soft and matte, and that contrast is the whole charm of the piece.
It comes with a clear ring stand so the pocket faces forward.
