A tall, heavy tower of plum blossom jasper, ten inches high and just shy of five pounds, polished to a soft gloss on every face and cut to a clean point. The base is near black, and scattered through it are hundreds of round rusty red spots, some with pale centers, along with little white and gray flecks, so the whole surface reads like a night sky full of red petals. One face carries a band of creamy white running across it like a seam of frost, which gives the tower a front.
Plum blossom jasper is a trade name rather than a true jasper. The stone is a volcanic rock, and the blossoms are old gas bubbles that filled with red and white mineral as the lava cooled, which is why every spot is round and every one is different. It is dense, cool and smooth in the hand, and at this weight it plants itself on a surface and stays put.
