This is citrine the way it comes out of the ground. A natural cluster from the Democratic Republic of Congo, three and a half inches tall, with a clear, glassy terminated point rising from a tumble of smaller honey and champagne colored crystals, and the red clay it grew in still caught in the crevices. Nothing about it has been heated, polished, or scrubbed. What you see is a piece of the earth exactly as it was found.
Kundalini citrine is the trade name for these Congo clusters, and in plain terms it is natural citrine quartz, colored by the ground it grew in rather than by a kiln. Most citrine sold today is amethyst that has been baked orange; this is the real thing, and it shows in the color, a soft smoky gold that deepens toward the base and goes almost clear at the tip. The main point carries a scatter of dark flecks under its faces and a band of them near its base, small inclusions that grew in with the crystal and read as ink spots against the light. Around it, a crowd of smaller points lean in every direction, some clear, some milky, some stained the warm rust of the clay.
The base is broad and rough and it stands on its own. It is a specimen for close looking, the kind of piece that rewards a window ledge or a desk where the light can get through the point.
