A little sphere with a secret on top. About 2.25 inches across and 9.7 ounces in the hand, this banded agate sphere is cut so that an open pocket of druzy quartz sits right at the crown, hundreds of tiny clear points packed together that catch the light and sparkle like frost. Below the pocket the agate runs in clean bands, soft gray, milky white, a warm tan line, a darker slate band near the base, each one a layer of silica laid down in the old geode wall. One small patch of the original rough skin is left on the side, a reminder that this came out of the ground as a hollow rock before it was cut round.
It sits on a small clear acrylic ring, so it stays put on a desk, a shelf or a nightstand with nothing showing but the stone. Turn it so the druzy faces the window and the pocket lights up in the morning. It is small enough to pick up and hold, and the polished bands feel cool and smooth against the rough sparkle of the crystals. The stand in the photos is included.
Agate is the steadying stone. In crystal lore it is read as grounding and protective, the kind of calm that settles slowly and stays, and banded agate in particular is taken as a stone for balance, for holding the middle when things pull in two directions. The druzy quartz on top is a different energy, quartz being the amplifier, the clear stone that is said to brighten whatever it sits beside, so a pocket of it inside an agate is read as calm with a spark in it. Spheres are meant to send that out evenly in every direction. Keep it where you work or where you think.
