Three stones that do completely different jobs, chosen so the person opening this gets range rather than three versions of the same idea. A clear quartz point that stands up and catches light. A labradorite freeform that hides its color until you turn it. And a piece of Turkish amethyst covered edge to edge in tiny druzy crystals, which is the one people cannot stop touching.
The quartz point comes on its own slim metal stand, so it arrives ready to stand somewhere and does not need anything else bought for it. It is water clear in places, cloudy in others, with the natural veils and fractures inside that tell you it grew rather than being made.
The labradorite is the surprise. Straight on it looks like a dark grey stone and you wonder what the fuss is about, then it turns and a band of blue and copper fire runs across the face. Worth saying plainly, this one does not stand up on its own. It is happiest sitting in a palm or propped against something, so think of it as a stone to hold rather than a stone to display upright.
The Turkish amethyst is the sparkler of the three. Every surface is packed with thousands of tiny crystal points and they are not subtle about it, the whole face glitters at once the moment light finds it. It is a soft pale lilac rather than the deep purple everyone pictures when they hear amethyst, and the sparkle is what makes it. Turn it under a lamp and the entire surface lights up at you.
It all comes packed in wood wool inside a latched bamboo box with our tree engraved on the lid. The pieces travel wrapped, so the first job is unwrapping them, and after that the box is yours to keep.
This is a good gift for someone at the start of something, because the three stones cover a lot of ground between them. Clear quartz has been called the master crystal for as long as people have written these things down, valued for clarity and for amplifying whatever intention you bring to it. Labradorite is the stone of transformation and of nerve, associated with protection and with trusting yourself through change, and there is a reason it hides its color until you move it.
