A polished banded agate geode, cut open down one side to a deep cave of fine sugary druzy quartz.
The outside is banded in smoke gray, soft blue and near black, polished to a glassy freeform that stands on its own flat base. The cave inside is lined edge to edge with tiny quartz crystals, and there are little dark specks scattered through them that catch as you turn it.
Worth knowing before you buy. This stone reads differently depending on the light. In daylight near a window the druzy goes silver and cool blue. Under warm indoor light it warms to tan and champagne. Both are in the photos, the daylight one first and the indoor one second. It is the same stone either way, and the changing is half the fun of it.
There is a natural seam running down the polished back, visible in the photos. It is part of how the stone formed and it is solid, not a repair.
Now the fun part. Agate is the steady one in crystal lore, the rock people keep within reach when life gets loud, said to take the sharp edges off a day without dulling the day down. It has been the working person's stone for centuries, not flashy, just reliably there, which is exactly the reputation a gray blue banded agate should have.
But this one is cut open, and that changes the story. What you are looking at is a pocket that spent a very long time in the dark filling itself with crystals nobody was ever meant to see. Geodes get read as the secret kept and then given, and there is a reason people cannot stop picking them up.
Inside, the druzy. Thousands of tiny quartz points across one curved face, and lore casts quartz as the amplifier of whatever is already there. One point is a single clear note. A cave of them is a chorus. Set against agate's steadiness that reads as quiet made bigger, calm with some carry to it.
And it keeps its own weather. Silver blue by the window, warm champagne under a lamp, so it is never quite the same object twice in one day. Put it where the light moves, a sill, a desk, a shelf by the kettle, and let it change on you.
