## Description

A polished cube of septarian, the stone people call dragon stone, and on this one you can see why. Every face is a different map. Honey yellow calcite pools in one corner, warm gray limestone fills the middle, and thick black aragonite veins crack through both like a dragon's scales, edged in pale crystal where the calcite has grown in along the seams. Turn it and the pattern changes completely from face to face.
The trick of this one is the way it stands. Set it down on a corner and it balances there, a floating cube, tipped up on one point with the light running down its edges, which is how it was photographed and how most people end up displaying it. It is a solid, weighty little block, about two and a quarter inches on a side and close to a pound and a half, cut and polished so it will also sit flat on any face if you would rather.
Where to put it. On a desk, because septarian is read as a grounding, patient stone and a cube is the most settled shape there is, so it makes a good anchor next to a keyboard on days that run fast. On an entry table or a hallway shelf, where an old tradition puts grounding stones to steady the house at the threshold. Or at the center of a bookshelf, balanced on its corner, where the floating trick gets noticed. It is also a satisfying paperweight, and the thing on the shelf that people pick up first.
Septarian formed around sixty million years ago when mud balls on an ancient seabed dried, cracked and slowly filled with calcite, so every vein you see is a healed crack. It is read as a grounding stone, one for patience and for holding your shape when things around you shift, and the calcite in it brings a warm, steadying lift. Dragon stone is the name it earned for the scaled look, and it suits a piece like this that sits so squarely on its own.
The product photographs show the exact piece you will receive.
