The polished face is the show. White and cream plumes radiate from a small druzy pocket at the center, the kind of pattern that looks like frost spreading across a window, and the whole face sits inside a caramel and amber rind that follows the natural edge of the nodule. Hold it up and the pale bands go soft and luminous where the stone thins. Turn it over and it is a different object. The back is the unworked outside of the nodule, rough and sandy with quartz showing through, and the contrast between the two faces is the reason this one is worth having rather than another polished round.
