## Description

The cave in this one is the whole point. A Uruguayan agate cut open and stood upright, and what it opens into is a wide branching hollow lined edge to edge in soft brown druzy, fine and even, flecked all over with tiny dark specks. Around it the stone is dove blue and gray in soft bands with a few clean white lines running through, polished smooth so the banding reads clearly, and a little pale cream crystal sits at the lip where the cave breaks the surface. Turn it around and the back is different again, a mottled mauve and brown with dark green patches set into it. It is about 4 inches tall and about 3.25 inches wide and weighs 1 pound 4.4 ounces.
It stands on its own on a flat cut base, no stand needed. This is a piece that wants light thrown into the cave rather than at the face, so put it on a shelf with a lamp off to one side, or on a sill where late light can reach inside it. The hollow is deep enough that it changes as you move past it, dark from one angle and full of sparkle from the next. It is a good size for a desk or a bookshelf, big enough to notice and small enough to pick up.
Agate is read in crystal lore as the steady one, grounding and patient, the stone people keep close when things feel loud. Banded agate carries the idea of layers built up slowly, one over the next, a quiet kind of protection that took a long time to make. The druzy inside, thousands of tiny points instead of one large crystal, is taken as that same steadiness spread wide and soft. And a geode, a pocket that was sealed and is now open, has always been read as the hidden thing made visible, the inside turned out. It suits a desk where the work is thinking, and a shelf where someone will keep turning it toward the light.
The product photographs and the video show the exact piece you will receive.
Specifications
Stone: natural agate geode, cut and polished, druzy quartz cave
Origin: Uruguay
Size: about 4 inches tall and about 3.25 inches wide
Weight: 1 lb 4.4 oz
Form: standing specimen, flat cut base, stands upright on its own, no stand needed
Please note: this is a natural stone with an open crystal cave. Handle it by the polished sides rather than the crystal, and dust it with a soft dry brush rather than a cloth, which will catch on the points. Small chips and uneven crystal along the edge of the cave are how these come out of the ground.
